Enterprises Winning Dongguan Patent Awards and Science and Technology Awards Were Honored with Plaques Presented by Municipal Leaders

On February 22, the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government convened the citywide Innovation‑Driven Development Conference, with the aim of conveying and implementing the spirit of the Provincial Innovation‑Driven Development Conference, deliberating and making arrangements for Dongguan's relevant work, and mobilizing the entire city to further strengthen its innovation mindset so as to propel Dongguan's innovation‑driven development to the forefront of the province. The conference was attended by over 400 participants, including the principal leaders of the four leadership teams—Secretary Xu of the Municipal Party Committee, Mayor Yuan of the Municipal Government, Chairman Li of the Municipal Political Consultative Conference, and Executive Deputy Director Zhen of the Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee—as well as the principal Party and government leaders of municipal departments and agencies at or above the deputy director‑general level, and those from all towns, subdistricts, and parks.

At the conference, municipal leaders including Secretary Xu and Mayor Yuan presented plaques or certificates to enterprises that had received national, provincial, and municipal patent and science and technology awards, covering a total of 16 projects, including the 17th China Patent Awards, the 2014 Guangdong Patent Excellence Awards, the 2015 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Awards, and the 2014 Dongguan Patent Gold Awards.

In recent years, Dongguan has thoroughly implemented the innovation‑driven development strategy, continuously achieving new breakthroughs in both the quantity and quality of patent applications. In 2015, the city's invention patent applications exceeded 10,000 for the first time, reaching 11,166, a year‑on‑year increase of 61.52%, ranking fourth in the province. The proportion of invention patent applications to total patent applications reached 29.31%, an increase of 5 percentage points over 2014, and surpassed the provincial average for the first time.
